Hugo Bedford and Blair Webster were familiar faces in our family. My father, Clive Hutchings, was Imports Manager for Campbell Motors in Queen St. He always had company vehicles, usually Peugeots, but for a while, a Contessa. In the summer of 1971 from memory, I had been travelling around the Far North in my Triumph Herald Coupe and met up with Dad and my brother in the Bay of Islands. We had a fun, fast drive home in convoy, and Dad said he was very impressed with the way the Hino handled and kept up with the sporty twin-carbed Triumph. Sometimes I wander around the old showroom, now Real Groovy Records, and remember the many hours spent drooling over beautiful new Peugeots, Renaults, Hinos, Volkswagons, and Rambler Rebels.

This article brings back great memories of the 1960′s.
