FPV has just appointed racing legend Allan Moffat as its official brand ambassador.
Moffat’s duties as ambassador will see the four-time Bathurst winner representing FPV at major events in 2010.
“Ford is such a big part of my history, it is fantastic to be joining FPV in 2010,” Allan Moffat said.
“FPV’s products are fabulous. Our racing cars didn’t perform or handle as well as these cars do, so I am proud to represent FPV in Australia, and look forward to working with Rod and his team.”
Moffat’s history with Ford in Australia is certainly lenghty. Beginning in the late 60s when Moffat joined as a factory team driver. It was in 1977 that Moffat teamed with Colin Bond to score a 1-2 victory for Ford at Mt Panorama.
“I am delighted to welcome Allan Moffat to our team,” FPV General Manager Rod Barrett said today.
“Allan brings with him an unrivalled Ford heritage and enormous credibility with the history of performance Fords in Australia, and that has an obvious connection with our brand and our customers.”
Mr Barrett added that Moffat’s “real feel for performance cars” adds further value to his role as FPV ambassador, helping the brand give Australian performance enthusiasts what they want.
In addition to his victories at Bathurst, Moffat won the Sandown endurance race six times, held the title of Australian Touring Car Champion four times, and has won both the Australian Sports Sedan and Sports Car Championship titles.
Internationally, Moffat has taken class honours in each of the 24 Hour endurance races at Le Mans, Daytona and Spa.
Moffat was inducted into the V8 Supercar Hall of Fame in 1999, and received an Order of the British Empire in 1978.
