Muscle car masters Classic Recreations recently signed an interesting licensing deal with Shelby to produce brand new versions of the 1967 Shelby GT500. Now, the Oklahoma-based company has just released a photos showing off the finished prototype car.
Named the GT500CR, the old-but-new Shelby offers a unique mix of modern and classic components so you can have your cake and eat it too. Rack and pinion steering, a modern suspension set-up, drilled and slotted Baer brakes and fiberglass body panels are all contemporary improvements over the original ’67 Shelby specification.
Under the bonnet sits a 427ci (7.0L) V8 engine putting out 545 horsepower and ensuring a fast ride.
The GT500CR also offers a deluxe 1967 interior with hand-stitched Carroll Shelby signature seats and gauges, 17-inch rims and tyres, nine-inch rear end and a Tremec transmission.
If that’s not enough for you, there is a special Venom model that adds a supercharger system and takes output to a neck-snapping 780 horsepower.
