The annual Kumeu Classic Car and Hot Rod Festival was held last weekend, and as usual the crowds were massive. Unfortunately, the show has lost some of its magic over the last few years, and the cars turning up (or not) is proof of this. While the event still has plenty of punters through the gates, and thousands of cars, the number of high-level cars has dropped dramatically. While joe public are still no doubt impressed, those a bit more involved in the scene were left somewhat disappointed.

The talk in the swap site area was about the varying prices paid for the same-sized spaces, leaving a sour taste in many mouths. No doubt this will see less returning next year.

Perhaps it’s time the organisers made an effort to put some of the magic back into the event so that it can once again become as great as many of us remember it being.
