More than 530,000 visitors from all over the world, 2,555 guided tours and 14,326 grilled steaks at the Christophorus Restaurant — just one year after opening, the Museum of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is looking back on 31 January 2010 at a very positive story of success. “In its first 365 days our Museum has developed into a truly dynamic and living enterprise. In many respects we have significantly exceeded even our own ambitious expectations”, states Achim Stejskal, the Director of the Porsche Museum.

On the occasion of the first birthday of the Museum visitors have the opportunity for the first time to look behind the scenes. The glass doors of the Museum Workshop, for example, are being opened to offer a glimpse of the work done by the mechanics in restoring historical Porsche cars. The event level normally not open to visitors is likewise being included in the birthday activities. Apart from a Porsche Cinema specially established for the occasion, children also have the opportunity to show their creativity here in all kinds of do-it-yourself exercises. And visitors are able to take a seat in a Porsche 911 Speedster for a truly unique photographic memory.

Enthusiasts of motorsport will also be thrilled by the experience, with Porsche works driver Marc Lieb offering questions all about motorsport during a special hour for autographs. On the occasion he will even be presenting his equipment and racing driver’s gear.

Presenting a Porsche 911 GT3 R of the 2010 season, a racing engineer will demonstrate how he obtains valuable data for racing challenges on his laptop. “We will even be starting our cars regularly on this special day both in the Exhibition and in the Museum Workshop — really a unique experience in sound”, adds Museum Director Achim Stejskal.
