News: Special Elfin MS8 for auction

TWR executives and Elfin owners will be watching Shannons Melbourne Summer Auction with interest when a current model, near-new MS8 Clubman goes under the hammer on November 24.

The white with black leather trim sports car – chassis No. 19 of the 25 or so MS8s built to date – was delivered in November last year and has covered only 760km since, most of that getting to and from displays.

The Clubman was part of a financial settlement with an Elfin shareholder by Walkinshaw Performance when it acquired the Australian company last year, but as the MS8 currently competes for garage space with three earlier Elfin Clubmans, it is being sold.

Like all MS8 models, it is powered by an LS1 5.7 litre Corvette V8, but this car has been fitted with numerous factory options including a sports exhaust system, fully-adjustable suspension including Koni adjustable race dampers, competition slotted AP brakes and the Simmons wide wheel kit, which includes fatter mudguards, taking its equivalent new price to over the $100,000 ($114,000 NZ) mark.

Shannons are quoting an auction guiding range of $65-$80,000 ($74,000-$91,000 NZ), which makes the Elfin a very attractive proposition for someone wanting to jump the current MS8 order queue.

Other interesting General Motors powered vehicles in the auction include a 1972 Holden LJ Torana XU-1 coupe in the very rare and attractive colour combination of Dolly Yellow with dark green houndstooth upholstery, a stylish black with silver coves left hand drive 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster and a white and mechanically-correct 1974 LH Torana L34 sedan.
