My Wing’s Bigger ‘n’ Yours

I was clearing through some old files the other day and came across this Terry Marshall shot of Ian Algies’ V8-powered Alfetta. I believe that Ian raced this car in the Sports Sedan Association Series from around 1978-1985 — and I’m sure I saw this car racing at Pukekohe in the early ’80s. It was certainly a pretty radical-looking car — and it’s rear spoiler has got to be the biggest I’ve ever seen attached to an Alfa Romeo — although I’m not sure that NZCC’s resident Alfisti, Penn McKay, would’ve approved. I can’t be sure, but I seem to recall that the Algie Alfetta is now owned by Gordon Burr of Matamata; can anyone out there confirm that, or supply any other information on this amazing Alfa.
