The Ford Cosworth DFV: The Inside Story of F1’s Greatest Engine – 200

Ford Cosworth DFV_2

The Ford Cosworth DFV engine made it racing debut at the Dutch Grand Prix in 1967, powering the Lotus 49s of Graham Hill and Jim Clark. Hill claimed pole position, and Clark won the race — the DFV went on to become the most successful engine ever in Formula One, winning 155 Grand Prix, the last in 1983.

Ford Cosworth DFVThis book, marking the DFV’s 40th anniversary, tells the story of development and evolution of the DFV.

As you would expect, there’s lots of technical detail, but the text is enlivened by a wealth of anecdotes and interviews with associated engineers and drivers. The book also lists every DFV race win — in F1, Indycar and sports car racing. Indycar racing in the 1980s recorded more than 150 race wins for DFV.

A worthy tribute to the most successful Formula One engine of all time.

Gilles Villeneuve: A Photographic Record by Nigel Roebuck & Quentin Spurring

An evocative introduction by Roebuck prefaces a wonderful collection of photos by LAT (a photo agency originally set up by Motorsport magazine), detailing Villeneuve’s short but memorable motor sport career. Spurring’s lengthy, informative photo captions capture the moment well — and this book will delight fans of the mercurial French-Canadian; one who many believe was the last of the true racers.
