Since the 1965 Japan GP was cancelled, its debut race was the 3rd Japan GP (Fuji) in 1966. The car shown is Y. Sunako&rsquo;s No.11 car, which defeated Porsche to win the championships. H. Oishi&rsquo;s R380 (No. 10) came in 2nd place.</p><table

Nissan produced the R381, equipped with a Chevrolet 5.5-liter V8 engine, for the 1968 Japan GP. Its unique &#8220;aero stabilizers&#8221; &#8211; the left and right portions of the wing moving independently &#8211; earned it the nickname &#8220;Monster Bird&#8221;. This commemorative car is the victorious No. 20, driven by H. Kitano.</p><table

However, entered in the 1969 Japan GP was the R382, which was equipped with Nissan&rsquo;s own 6-liter V12 DOHC engine (600PS). The R382 dominated the race, beating the Porsche and Toyota 7 to take both 1st place (M. Kurosawa) and 2nd place (H. Kitano).</p><table

The result was the R383, dubbed &#8220;700ps!&#8221; Unfortunately, the 1970 Japan GP was cancelled and the R383, without a chance to demonstrate its prodigious ability, became a machine of legend. This commemorative car is a reconstruction (replica) used for motor shows.</p><table

Sadly, the top Japanese machine in the qualifier, the #23 Nissan R86V Nichira (K. Hoshino, K. Matsumoto, A. Suzuki), was forced to retire. However, the #23 Nissan R85V Amada (Masahiro Hasemi, T. Wada, J. Weaver) attracted attention when it came in 16th overall in its debut race.</p><table

/> The R88C was powered by the VRH30, newly developed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The car too had evolved considerably, featuring a longer wheelbase to improve driving ease and Nissan&rsquo;s original cowl design. It came in 15th overall in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1988.</p><p>A distinguishing feature of the R88C was that it was powered by a new engine, the VRH30, developed for racing at Le Mans. Driven by #24 YHP&rsquo;s No.1 driver, Masahiro Hasemi, it took part in the 1988 and 1989 JSPC races (up to the 2nd round in 1989). In the 1988 season, it came in 3rd in the 1st round (Fuji) and 5th round (Suzuka). In 1989, it was 3rd in the 2nd round (Fuji) and 4th in the World Sports Prototype Championship (WSPC) 1st round (Suzuka).</p><table

Nissan chalked up three consecutive wins in this series, and the first of those was achieved by this machine (Masahiro Hasemi and A. Olofsson). The chassis of the R90C was a British Lola, but about 70% of the parts were made by Nissan and NISMO.</p><table

Other major features of this machine are the beautiful Nissan cowl design and full telemetry system. It debuted for Calsonic in the 3rd round (Fuji), driven by K. Hoshino and Toshio Suzuki, though it was forced to retire. It came in 8th in the 5th round (Fuji).</p><table

The &#8220;CP&#8221; refers to JSPC specifications, while &#8220;CK&#8221; means WSPC specifications; a difference can be seen in the shape of the rear spoiler. The yellow No.27 car is an R90CK from the UK (NME)*. Following Nissan&rsquo;s decision to pull out of world championship racing, this machine (Nakatani, Volker Weidler) took part in the JSPC as the &#8220;From-A R91CK Nissan&#8221;.<br

It incorporated significant advances, such as a newly designed monocoque body offering greater rigidity. The R90CK made by NME took part in international endurance championships, such as Le Mans, and also the IMSA series in USA. This machine was entered by the US-based NPTI Team in the 1992 Daytona 24 Hours (GTP class).</p><table

At first a Nissan engine would be mounted in a foreign-made chassis (March Engineering or Lola Cars International), and entered in the WEC (World Endurance Championship) and Japan&rsquo;s own endurance series. The R91CP, however, was entirely Nissan-made, and &#8211; driven by Masahiro Hasemi, K. Hoshino, and Toshio Suzuki &#8211; it captured the title in the 1992 Daytona 24 Hours, the first time that a Japanese team or Japanese car had done so.</p><table

In that year, following a closely fought contest with Porsche and McLaren, the No.23 car (K. Hoshino, E. Comas, Masahiko Kageyama) came in 12th overall, 5th in class. The R390 name was derived from the previous R380 GP machine.</p><table

In fact, Nissan won 3 years in a row up to 1992. The Hasemi &amp; Oloffson team, which won the Driver&rsquo;s title, returned in 1991 sporting the No.1 champion car number. Thanks to its reinforced carbon monocoque construction and improved aerodynamics, the R91CP was even easier to drive.</p><table

The NPTI team, which contested the US IMSA Series, ran a pair of R90CKs. When the results were in, No.83 had come in 4th in the qualifier but retired in the final race, while No.84 (B. Earl, M. Roe, S. Millen) was 25th in the qualifier and 17th in the main event.</p><table

src="http://classiccarmagazine.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/172-1999-nissan-r391.jpg" alt="" title="172-1999-nissan-r391" width="667" height="500" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3397" /></p><p>From 1999, as the result of a change in the Le Mans regulations governing vehicles, the prototypes had a better chance than GT cars of coming in 1st overall.</p><p>Nissan entered a pair of <span>R391</span> machines in the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans race, but car No. 22 crashed in the previous day&rsquo;s qualifier, and car No. 23 retired after seven hours. However, in November that year, car No. 23 (M. Krumm, E. Comas, S. Motoyama) vindicated the <span>R391</span>, wining a brilliant victory in the Le Mans-Fuji 1000km race held in Japan.</p><table

In response, Nissan developed a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter engine, mounting it in the NP35 (JSPC specifications) and P35 (US IMSA specifications). However, with the cancellation of the World Championship, Nissan suspended its racing activities and this NP35 only made one appearance in the All Japan Championship.</p><table

So from 1997 to 1999 Nissan took up the challenge using a purpose-built GT car.</p><p>It was an authentic GT car created by Nissan for the sole purpose of winning at Le Mans. In its debut race in 1997, it came in 12th overall (Hoshino, Comas, Kageyama), but in 1998 every car made the top ten in overall rankings: No.32 (Hoshino, A. Suzuki, Kageyama) in 3rd, No.30 (Krumm) in 5th, No.31 (Comas) in 6th, and No.33 (Kurosawa) in 10th position.</p><p>In 1998, in its second attempt at Le Mans, the <span>R390</span> GT1 was represented by a total of 4 entries: No.30 (Clarion), No. 31 (UNISIA JECS), No. 32 (Calsonic), and No.33 (JOMO). Its proved to be a difficult race, with only 23 cars completing the course, but all the Nissans made the top-ten ranking, with car No.32 (Hoshino, A. Suzuki, Kageyama) coming in 3rd overall, thus demonstrating the machine&rsquo;s reliability, and securing Nissan&#8217;s best finish overall in this event.</p><table

Therefore this road car was created in order to obtain official type-approval for the R390 GT1 as a &#8220;GT car&#8221;. It was never marketed, but it was rumored to be worth 100 million yen if it had been put on sale.</p><table

Its specifications are basically the same as the R91CP; &#8220;R92CP&#8221; was just the entry name. #24 YHP&rsquo;s results in the 6 races of the &rsquo;92 season were 1st, 4th, 5th, 4th, 4th, and 4th. Masahiro Hasemi came in 5th in the Driver&rsquo;s Championship, with J. Krosnoff following in 9th position.</p><table

The second-generation Bluebird (Datsun 410) was launched in September 1963. In March of the following year, the 1200SS (Sports Sedan) &#8211; featuring a 62PS engine with SU carburetor and dual exhaust pipes &#8211; was launched. In the eighth year after its debut entry, it also was both class and team category champion. The debut of the third-generation Bluebird (510) was in August 1967. The 17th Safari Rally in 1969 served as the setting for the movie &#8220;5000km to the Glory&#8221;, starring Yujiro Ishihara.</p><table
