News: Stirling Moss falls down elevator shaft – both ankles broken (+video)

Retired Formula One driver and motor-racing living legend Sir Stirling Moss has fallen three levels down an open elevator shaft on Sunday. His injuries include chipping four vertebrae, breaking both ankles and cracking four bones in his foot. But he’s a tough old character and according to doctors he’ll be fine.

The 80-year old racing icon was waiting for the lift when the door opened early and he stepped into what he expected to be the elevator floor but it was still one floor above and Moss fell to the ground three-levels below.

He was quickly rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery and has now received modifications in the form of metal pins in. Now, he’s looking at a six-week recovery time before he is back to normal.
